Solar Power Generation
Distributed or Decentralized Power Generation (DPG) offers the possibility of creating microgrids (within the overall utilities framework) to cater to the requirements of a group of consumers in a well defined geographical area. DPG close to the rural load centers using renewable sources appears to have the greatest potential to address most of the problems of rural electrification. DPG in rural areas can improve voltage profiles, lower distribution losses and supply reactive power locally. Typical DPG plant capacity range from few hundred kilowatts to few megawatts. Governments around the world are emphasizing energy efficiency as the way to mitigate global warming without constraining economic growth. Energy efficiency focuses on how much energy is used relative to the services demanded. Electricity used for lighting in residential and commercial buildings in rural areas constitutes a significant portion of the overall energy cost. Waste heat to power / Water purification
All power plants emit a certain amount of heat during electricity generation. For example, about 50% of all fuel burned by industrial sources becomes waste heat. Harnessing the waste heat for electricity, especially in the temperature range of 120-180oC can be very useful to improve the efficiency of many heat engines.
Our approach is to use an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) engine to convert the waste heat into electricity. In many parts of the developing world, there is a shortage of drinking water. To address this problem, we employ membrane distillation technology that uses low-grade waste heat (60-90o C) for water purification. These and other multi-generation solar energy based technologies are being developed to address the utilization of waste heat to useful purposes.

Leadership
Mr. Hari Kiran Chereddi, Managing Director, an Engineer and an MBA, comes with about a decade of rich management expertise and has played senior roles in sales, operations, strategy and program management in large corporations across the world. His last assignment was with Bank of America in India, where he was leading business management operations.
Hari is a regular contributor to leading print and online media. He is also an Executive Member of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Southern Regional Council, Member of CII Andhra Pradesh State Council, and Member of the CII Southern Regional & Andhra Pradesh industry panel on 'Energy and Environment'.
His vision is to build one of the world's most 'Responsible Energy' companies.
Dr. Anjaneyulu Krothapalli (referred to as Dr. K by associates), CEO, earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University in 1978 and 1979 respectively and currently holds the Don Fuqua Eminent Scholar Chair Professor of Engineering at the Florida State University in Tallahassee. He is also the founding director of Energy & Sustainability Center, established in 2003.
His current research interests are in the areas of multi-generation concentrating solar thermal systems, sustainable rural electrification; hydrogen enriched synthetic gas production from biomass and aviation biofuels.
Dr. K was conferred a NASA certificate of recognition and US Office of Naval Research CTAP award. He was also a National Research Council Senior Fellow at NASA Ames Research Center and is a Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He has served as Chairman of Florida State University Mechanical Engineering Department from September 1987- May 2002.
Since, 2007, he is an Affiliated Professor Energy at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. He is an author/co-author of 180 technical publications and holder of two patents. Dr. K is also the co-founder of Sustainable Energy Technologies LLC. (a Florida based company), which promotes advanced concepts in concentrating solar thermal systems, hybrid solar/biomass power plants and photovoltaic systems.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao, VP – Finance & Operations, is a graduate in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the College of Engineering, Osmania University in Hyderabad and a Post Graduate in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Mr. Rao has been with the Sujana Group at the corporate office for a year assisting the group in M&A activity and diversification initiatives.
Mr. Rao has over 18 years of experience in Management Consulting with Deloitte, India, where his responsibilities included building and growing the management consulting practice as an independent profit center. His experience spans across:
- Formulating and implementing corporate strategy for clients across pharmaceutical, steel and infrastructure sectors.
- Business transformation engagements involving process re engineering, aligning HR strategy with corporate strategy, risk management, cost management, market opportunity identification and marketing channel management for clients across automobile components, carbide cutting tools, earth moving machinery, steel, infrastructure, fertilizer and microfinance industries.
- Financial restructuring involving detailed financial modeling, defining risk framework and carrying out the risk assessment, financial analysis and restructuring for long term viability and profit optimization across machine tools, steel and fertilizer industries.
- Business and brand valuations across pharmaceuticals, fertilizer, other manufacturing, banking & NBFC, information technology and BPO industries.
Mr. Rao has insights into corporate governance and management of business in promoter driven enterprises as he was an independent member on the board of two SMEs for a couple of years while working with Deloitte.
